I know this is a litle offbeat (you need a break from this stuff) but I remember when i was a kid our USA President said in Berlin
"Ich bin ein Berliner". 

The American media said that Kennedy had said "I am a jelly doughtnut".

The Berliner's loved it that time!  So i never belived what the media said it meant.

Was it what our now USA President calls fake news??

I know very well what J.F.K said. (We German love J.F.K)

He said the phrase correctly! it is not wrong! And also no one laughed about it! " Berliner" does also mean the donut yes, but it is also the word for a citizen of Berlin. Nothing wrong about it.
BTW we francs don't call it "Berliner" we call it "Krapfen"
