I suggest "almost" here ..... in a separate topic so we can offer our mutual comments on other's.

that said, I hope marcel / patc might add a "childs" board for all topics on his / their sound files etc.

it would include this one which can continue solely for release & update news and sub-topics currently included are separated out from their start (eg thoughts on danny's efforts, the pf vs pnf structure).

in the meantime, installing the new voices before feedback ..... thanks
cheers

Rather not by PM. It's nice to have everyone in this discussion.

Also it would be nice to have a place for things like this, like where you can report flaws in the voices. As I'm getting better at this, I now hear some bad timing issues, especially in the numbers. Eventually I want to fix these for the old voices.

Mave, I busted out a full set in just under 3 hours with the new tool.  It compressed and uploaded just fine.   Look for the Capt. K-Man set, US, Texas.   :)   Hope it is to the quality you need for full conversion.   It was recorded using a Blue Yeti Pro mic for clarity.   Now.. garbage it up with radio static and all the other little bits!

First of all, thank you Marcel and Danny for your efforts!

Modern communications systems are fairly clear and crisp.  I like it that way especially now that i'm older and losing my higher frequency hearing range.  Although, with all the cockpit noise, adding some slight background static for the pilot makes little difference in hearing ability.

The slight addition of Silkyman's background hum does sound more realistic listening to the A1 pilots communications with ATC.

So I believe Marcel (MaVe64) and Daniel (Silkyman) are the ones to decide if the extra time to add "noise" is really worth it.

Hi Rich,

I hear ATC from second computer.
Together with FSX Airplane sound I don't need extra background noise! (I can not hear)

Because FSX Airplane Turbine Sound is much enough noise,

It's more about having the immersion, that the transmission from a cockpit sounds different, not just about adding noise.
I agree that the controllers should be clear.

i believe we need to remember a "pilots" voice is confusingly used (currently) as the "pnf" voice.

as such, many i suspect would prefer clarity as well as a familiar accent (& no background) as much as to help understand comms as there is not anywhere near the background noise (pf to / from pnf thru their respective headsets) that you can hear but not necessarily from other aircraft.

is there thus a need for options ?

No, please don't. I've already had to disable some of the voices as they are just too indecipherable. I have them on a headset or small overhead speakers, from a separate PC to the FS PC, and the sound needs to be clear.

In modern airliners, in my experience, the sound is crystal clear -- and this dates back to the days before you couldn't get cockpit visits. I don't know where folks get the idea that aircraft use 1940's tech radios still.

Yes, other aircraft talking to control can be horrible, depending on distance etc, but the controllers you are tuned to should always be clear.

Pete,

would you mind telling us, or more to the point tell me which voices you have disabled just so i can have a benchmark to work up to.

PM me if you wish to remain neutral.

Maybe because of the 100's of YouTube videos where we get to listen in and it all has static and buzz to some degrees.   Not horrible but its still there.   The goal is to dirty up the voice enough so it doesn't sound like someone sitting at their computer talking to you or a telephone call because its NOT that clear.   But a little buzz on it will go a long way to make it sound like authentic comms.
